My Background

I hold an MBA and have over a decade of professional experience in the accounting field, where I developed strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. While my business career has given me valuable expertise, I also discovered a deep passion for education and supporting students in their academic journeys.

During part of my career, I worked as an AVID tutor in the Pleasanton Unified School District as well as a private tutor for math. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized academic support program that prepares students for success in college and beyond. Working with AVID gave me the opportunity to support students who had the motivation and potential to succeed in rigorous coursework but needed additional guidance and encouragement to fully reach their goals.

Through both AVID and private tutoring, I observed firsthand that students thrive when their learning is both fun and challenging. Many students lose interest when they are not engaged or when the material feels too easy. On the other hand, when they are given the right balance of support and challenge, they rise to the occasion, building not only stronger academic skills but also confidence, perseverance, and a love for learning.

These experiences have shaped my teaching philosophy today: creating an environment where students feel supported, motivated, and excited to tackle challenges. My goal is not only to strengthen their math skills, but also to help them develop the problem-solving mindset and resilience they can carry into all areas of life.
